Metchosin Tech Teacher Only Cnd to Win Amgen Award!!

HUGE congratulations to Metchosin Tech teacher, Laura Verhoeven! Laura is the only teacher in Canada to receive the 2012 Amgen Award for Science Teaching Excellence (AASTE)! Verhoeven was honoured today for her outstanding ability to inspire students in science education. As part of her award, Verhoeven received $5,000. John Stubb’s Student 2nd in National French Speech Competition!

Congratulations to John Stubbs grade 7 Late Immersion student India Hounsome, who won second place in the Canadian Parents for French Provincial French Speech competition in Burnaby on May 5. Belmont Film Gets 1st Runner Up in Province-Wide Contest

With their minute-long film “Through the Eyes“, Belmont students, Brandon Gregor, Jon Bond, Dylan Grant and Cole Penner received first runner up in the Vancouver Sun’s Student Video Awards. SD62 Keeps One-Week Spring Break

During last night’s monthly Board meeting, the SD62 Board of Education approved the standard school calendar for next year, keeping a one-week long spring break in SD62. The one-week spring break will remain in place for the 2012/2013 school year.
